Awards

Since 2016, ELCAF has been proud to offer the following awards, the winners of which are announced on the last day of the festival:

The ELCAF x WeTransfer Award is a grant that enables artists to see a project come to life. Exhibitors past and present are invited to submit a proposal for a publication they would love to realise but wouldn’t have the means to do so. We offer £3,500 to develop and print a book that will be showcased at ELCAF the following year.

The winner of the 2017 ELCAF x WeTransfer Award was Akvile Magicdust, who will be developing her comic Tropical Wildchilds ready to be presented at ELCAF 2018.

The winner for the 2016 ELCAF x WeTransfer Award was Nicolas Burrows for his publication The Elephant Hotel. Please see the video below to hear more about Nicolas’ process of creating the book:

The Audience Award is our way of getting the ELCAF exhibitors and audience to nominate their favourite new publication at the festival. Each exhibitor will put a new publication up for nomination and allow the audience to make the vote. The winner will receive a £200 voucher donated by our partners at Cass Art, as well as the opportunity to exhibit at the Cass Art Islington exhibition space in 2019.

The winner of the 2016 Audience Award was Liam Cobb for his short comic Shampoo and the winner of the 2017 ELCAF Audience Award was Joe Kessler for Windowpane 4.

Keep an eye out for the #ELCAFAwards. Exhibitors will be highlighting which publication they’re putting forward for nomination closer to the time of the festival.
